Cinder Joins the Internet Watch Foundation to Help Stop the Spread of Child Sexual Abuse Material

Cinder has joined the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) as a member to help its customers block child sexual abuse material (CSAM) before it ever reaches their platforms.

By partnering with the IWF, Cinder can provide customers who are also IWF members with direct access to IWF's Hashes, URLs, and Keywords through the Cinder platform. This removes the need for organizations to build separate, technical integrations.

IWF builds these data sets of confirmed child sexual abuse content through the work of its hotline and the legal authority its specialist analysts hold to proactively search for and remove this content at the source. Membership of the IWF extends that work upstream, helping platforms to detect and block known CSAM from being uploaded in the first place.

Images and videos of child sexual abuse are some of the most serious and challenging content platforms must address, and helping customers prevent their spread is central to why Cinder exists. For a Cinder customer, joining the IWF and turning on matching against its hash, URL, and keyword lists is a swift and efficient process, without having to build and maintain that pipeline independently.

Once a match against IWF's data is confirmed, Cinder handles it the same way it handles all other instances of internet abuse, so IWF's signals aren't tracked separately from everything else a Trust and Safety team is already managing.

Generative AI has made child sexual abuse material dramatically easier to produce and at scale. The growing volume of criminal content that platforms and the IWF must now tackle reflects that shift. Detecting and blocking this content before it reaches the internet is among the most consequential responsibilities an online service can have. Meeting that responsibility requires infrastructure designed for scale rather than a project initiated only when resources allow. Cinder is built to meet that standard, and the IWF strengthens that capability.
